The establishment of Universiti Tun Abdul Razak (UNITAR) was mooted by Datuk Hassan Harun, the former chairman of KUB Malaysia Berhad. This was guided by his strong interest and vast experience in the field of education, especially with the setting up of Maktab Adabi in 1969.
Universiti Tun Abdul Razak PINTAR Campus is home to the university undergraduate's faculties and various schools. It was officially launched on December 21st, 1998 by YAB Dato' Sri Mohd. Najib Tun Abdul Razak, our current prime minister who was then the Minister of Education. The number of students currently stands close to 8,000 students; with approximately 5,000 full time students, while others are of distance – learning at the campus.
1996: YAB Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, the former Prime Minister of Malaysia gave his blessings to Datuk Hassan's proposal of setting an IT-based learning environment. The proposal was also presented to YB Dato' Sri Mohd. Najib Tun Razak, who was then the Minister of Education.
6 November 1997: Tun Abdul Razak's family allows KUB Malaysia Berhad to
name the university after him.
18 December 1997: The Ministry of Education invites KUB Malaysia Berhad to set
up Universiti Tun Abdul Razak.
September 1998: The inaugural intake of 162 students in two faculties at Kelana Jaya Campus.
21 December 1998: The official Launching of Universiti Tun Abdul Razak by YB Dato Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak.
28 January 2000: Receives its approval for registration from the Ministry of Education.
18 August 2001: Hold its inaugural Convocation and Chancellor's Proclamation Ceremony at Hotel Istana, Kuala Lumpur. Y. Bhg. Tun Hajjah Mohd Noah was proclaimed the first Chancellor and 28 graduates received their scrolls.
>8 August 2003: The first few private learning institutions in Malaysia to receive its ISO 9001:2000 Quality System Certification from SIRIM.
11 October 2003: Holds its third convocation and Pro Chancellor’s Proclamation Ceremony at Dewan Perdana FELDA. YBhg. Tan Sri Dato (Dr.) Ahmad Sarji Bin Abdul Hamid was proclaimed as the first Pro Chancellor and 239 graduates received their scrolls during the ceremony.
1 Mac 2007: Tun Abdul Razak Education Foundation (Yayasan PINTAR) purchased shares of UNITAR Sdn. Bhd. from KUB Malaysia Berhad.
22 November 2008: Hold it's Eighth Convocation and Pro Chancellors' Proclamation Ceremony at Putrajaya International Convention Centre(PICC). YBhg. Datuk Seri Panglima Andrew Sheng Len Tao was proclaimed as the Second Pro Chancellor and 1682 graduates received their scrolls during the ceremony.
9 October 2009: The official launching of RAZAK Campus and the unveiling of New Logo for Universiti Tun Abdul Razak.
1 September 2010: Relocation of PINTAR Campus from Kelana Jaya to Leisure Commerce Square.
11 March 2011: Wins Bronze Award in the Putra Brand Awards (Education and Learning), Malaysia largest consumer-based awards.
4 July 2011: The Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) approved the renaming of UNITAR PINTAR Campus to University of Management and Technology (UMTECH).
1 August 2011: Officially separates into 2 distinct institutions:
i. Universiti Tun Abdul Razak (at Razak Campus); and
ii. University of Management and Technology (formerly PINTAR Campus).
22 October 2011: Eleventh Convocation at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre(PICC), where 2,149 graduates received their scrolls.
In its short history, Universiti Tun Abdul Razak has graduated over 10,000 students, With majority taking various courses at the PINTAR Campus.
UNITAR is dedicated to addressing the global human capital needs in the 21st century. Anchored on its two pillars: "management" and "technology education", UNITAR will be offering foundation, diploma, bachelor, masters’, and doctoral programmes in diverse disciplines including business administration, accounting, management, education, early childhood education, guidance and counseling, information technology, software engineering, tourism and hospitality.

UNITAR Regional Centre:
UNITAR main campus at leisure commerce square is supported by strong networks of regional centre in Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Melaka, Ipoh, Pulau Pinang, Alor Star, Kota Baru, and Johor Baru.
UNITAR Sarawak Regional Centre:
SIDMA College Sarawak OR also formerly known as Institut Pengurusan Dinamik (IPD) Sarawak which manages UNITAR programs for Sabah and Sarawak has moved to a new city campus in Kuching. The new campus, has facilities that can cater up to 1,500 students. Strategically located at Jalan Haji Taha, this campus is in close proximity to banks, mosque, Sikh Temple, Tua Pek Kong, food court, and even shopping complexes are within walking distance. For the students learning ease, two public libraries are conveniently located immediately behind the new campus. The campus is easily accessed, as it is situated in the middle of Kuching city, with bus terminals, taxi stations and even penambang jetties, connecting all routes to-and-fro from the campus to all over Kuching.
The campus itself consists of one main building, Wisma Mornie and another adjoining block, Annex Block currently has a capacity of fourteen lecture rooms, one main hall, three computer labs, 1 resource centre and one student common area.
All lecture rooms are fully air-conditioned and equipped with LCD and laptops to facilitate for a more interactive learning experience. The computer labs, which has more than 100 computers all has internet access and fully installed with all the relevant software required for the students usage. Even the campus itself is wired with WiFi which enables students to connect to the internet wherever they are whether in classrooms, students common area, resource centre or even in the main lobby. This is in line with the UNITAR learning concept which combines face-to-face classes with its virtual online instructional support system (VOISS). Students can gain access to their notes, tutorials and announcements online while being in a face-to-face class.
